A COUNTY organisation is holding a gala dinner to honour a cricketing dynasty and raise money

to support local grass roots projects.

The D'Oliveira Foundation which was set up to honour the memories of Father and Son Basil and Damian

D'Oliveria and to continue to support the projects they were both heavily involved in.

The Foundation is holding its 2017 Gala Dinner on Saturday, November 11 at Worcestershire County Cricket Club and it promises to be a fantastic and nostalgic celebration of Basil's and Damian's lives.

The centre piece of the evening will be the unveiling of the solid Bronze commemorative bust featuring the head's of both of the cricketers.

The statue, which cost more than £14,000, was designed and sculptured by leading artist John McKenna who worked very closely with the D'Oliveira family to produce the piece.

The bust took over a year to complete and will be unveiled in the Graeme Hick Pavilion where it will be permanently situated.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Philip Serrell star of TV's Bargain Hunt, Antique's Road Trip and Flog-It who is a close friend of the D'Oliveira Family, a huge cricket fan who once played in the same team as Imran Khan and was recently the lunchtime guest on Test Match Special.

The MC for the evening will be leading Sports Journalist Pat Murphy who as well as also being a close family friend is the Author of Basil's Autobiography "Time to Declare".

Along with all of this, guests will also enjoy a three course meal, there will be fun and games, and an auction before guests can dance the night away with a disco.

All guests will receive a gift to mark the unveiling of the commemorative bust.
