THE stunning baroque church at Great Witley hosted its seventh arts and craft exhibition over August Bank Holiday.

The event attracted over 2,000 visitors and raised over £3,000 for the church.

New additions this year included textile artist and tutor Christine Benson, who specialises in using hand dyed silk fibres sensitively embellished with stitch.

Sally Brooks exhibited her unique ceramic clocks which are made using the Japanese firing technique Raku. Each piece is heated to around 1000 degrees and then transferred into wood chippings that ignite and burn, leaving each piece with a unique glaze finish.

Peter Lord showed his very fine calligraphic art and Sue Peters exhibited her horse paintings for the first time.

Another new artist, Michelle Luter, from Lichfield, exhibited exuberant abstracts.

Antiques expert Henry Sandon spoke with visitors at the Friday evening preview event.

Many visitors to the exhibition stayed for the charity concert later that day and the production of A Comedy of Errors at Witley Court in the evening.

Music students Polly Woodhouse, Abi Walter, Daisy Beedie, Sasha Penlington and Amy Hepinstall performed at the concert which was organised by Miss Woodhouse, who left immediately after to study in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland.
