LEGENDS don't come cheap unless you live locally, in which case they effectively cost a fiver each.

Organisers of the Faithful City's Concert of Legends at Worcestershire Cricket Club have lined up eight legends this year to entertain a crowd expected to be more than 4000 strong.

And with tickets costing £40 for eight headliners, organisers say it must be "the bargain of the century".

A Concert of Legends spokesman said: "That works out at £5 a legend! To see just Billy Ocean normally in concert would cost you £40.

"The weather forecast is looking good and this is the chance to finish the summer in style with a festival in one day, at the iconic location of Worcestershire Cricket Club."

Tickets are selling like hot cakes. Organisers are confident of beating last year's inaugural sales of more than 4000 tickets, and with the concert date of Saturday, September 9 fast approaching, music-lovers are being urged to book early and avoid disappointment.

But the ground is so capacious, ticket purchases should still be possible on the day.

The concert will run from noon to 11pm and headliners will include The Boomtown Rats, Billy Ocean, Paul Carrack, Ray Lewis' Drifters, Odyssey, Livin' Joy, N- Trance and Baby D.

The spokesman added: "Billy Ocean has sold over 30m records in his lifetime. He has collected a pile of Gold and Platinum records across the world and hit the number one spot worldwide on pop charts including the USA, Australia, Germany, Holland, and the UK.

"Billy has achieved extraordinary success as both an artist and a songwriter. Born in Trinidad, Billy settled in London’s East End when he was just seven years old. Billy got his first break when he signed to GTO records, for whom his second single was the Motown-ish Love Really Hurts Without You, which reached number two in the UK charts and number 12 in the US."

The rest is history.

The Boomtown Rats will be fronted by the legendary Bob Geldof.

Their first massive hit was , ‘Mary of the 4th Form’, and other mega-hits followed, including ‘She’s So Modern’, Rat Trap’ and ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’.
