THE Hive library in Worcester will be celebrating Roald Dahl Day on Saturday, September 16, from 10am to 4pm with some Phizz Whizzing activities planned for children.

Hive staff will be dressed up as characters from Dahl's stories and throughout the day, families can take part in colouring, craft and story time sessions.

There will be the chance to design a Danny the Champion of the World Romany-style plate. The sessions are £2.50 a child and run at 10am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

And colouring activities include the chance for children to create their own gloriumptious party hat and filthsome Mr Twit beard.

At 12.30pm and 3.30pm, Hive staff will be recreating one of George’s Marvellous experiments and at 11am and 2.45pm there will be special storytelling sessions from Dahl’s most loved books.

Library manager Janine Downes said: “Last year the Summer Reading Challenge’s theme was Roald Dahl.

"Everyone had such great fun at the various Roald Dahl events and loved coming in fancy dress as characters from the stories. There are so many incredible books that have stood the test of time that I’m sure this year’s event will be a really enjoyable day.”
