THEATREGOERS left The Courtyard in Hereford with the sound of Broadway ringing in their ears.

For the second year running, A Night on Broadway thrilled a sell-out audience at the Edgar Street venue, and raised much-needed money for St Michael’s Hospice.

Once again it was all organised by Jack Campey whose father, Andrew, was cared for at St Michael’s in Bartestree before dying in 2015.

Performers this year included soloists Harriet Doyle, Steve Liddle, Sophie Reeves and Lucas Abbott who were all accompanied by a 35-piece orchestra.

Between them they performed hits made famous by some of the finest shows from across the pond, including West Side Story, South Pacific, Chicago and Les Miserables.

"It all went very smoothly," said Jack.

"There was a really good mix of people, including many who attended last year. The feedback has been really good.

"Last year was different because we were starting from scratch but this time around I’d sold 50 tickets before the performers were even announced.

"I’m 99% sure I will do it again next year."

He says he hopes the evening will at least match the £2,500 raised for St Michael’s following last year’s concert.

Jack’s fundraising for St Michael’s began during his dad’s time at the hospice when he raised cash by going on a self-imposed social media ban.

Other family members also raised money at that time by holding events such as coffee mornings.
