VANDALS attacked a Worcester church twice within 24 hours over the weekend, breaking a number of windows.
The first attack at St Wulstan’s Church, Cranham Drive, Warndon was discovered when the church was opened at about 9.30am on Sunday for the first service of the day.
Three windows at the back of the church were broken, most likely by stones being thrown at them.
The second attack happened in the afternoon, between three and five, when a rooflight and an opening window were smashed.
Rev Charles Thomas said: “I’ve been here almost two-and-a-half years and nothing like this has happened since I’ve been here.
“The lay reader, Phillip Howell, has been here for absolutely years and he says he can’t remember anything like this for a long time, going back to the 90s or the 80s.
He said that the attacks had upset some of the predominantly elderly members of the congregation but prayers had been said for the offenders at the service that morning.
“I don’t know how much it will cost to get repaired, but I’m guessing £800 to £1,000,” he said.
