MORE disabled people will be able to get out and about thanks to a charity expanding in the city.

Worcester Wheels has moved into a new base after outgrowing its old offices.

The move will help the charity, part of Community Transport Partnership, to give more people lifts to get to doctors, opticians, chiropodists and hospital appointments, or simply just to visit friends and family.

The charity was previously based at The Tything but after outgrowing the base it has now moved to new home at Unit 4, Checketts Lane Industrial Estate.

Dormston Cook, the charity's development manager, said it was an exciting move for the charity.

"We moved in a couple of months ago," he said.

"Our new premises offers more parking and more office space.

"Worcester Wheels offers public transport to those without support, limited mobility, elderly, disabled people - particularly those who are isolated."

The charity is holding a community event where people can look around their new base.

He said: "Our event is open to everyone - it provides an opportunity to look around our facilities, with refreshments and appetizers provided."

People register with the service to have lifts in cars, MPVs and minibuses, with return trips costing as little as £6.

As well as people within the city, they also pick up people living in Alfrick, Bransford, Broadheath, Broadwas, Hallow, Holt, Kempsey, Knightwick, Leigh, Little Witley, Martley, Norton, Powick, Rushwick, Whittington and Wichenford.

The community event is being held between 2pm and 5pm on Friday, September 29, and everyone is welcome. For more details visit Worcester Wheels Facebook group, or worcesterwheels.org.uk.
