A DRUNK man smashed a police car window, leaving his hand covered in blood.

Daniel 'Diesell' Paintin punched out the back window of a Vauxhall Astra police car after he had a row with his partner, telling the officer to let the boys know 'Diesell' was back.

The 28-year-old of Cranham Drive, Warndon, Worcester admitted criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before a district judge at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday. The incidents happened in Cranham Drive and Shap Drive on August 27.

He further admitted being drunk and disorderly in Cranham Parade, Warndon on September 10.

Amy Davies, prosecuting, said a police officer was outside the police station in Warndon, Worcester when he saw a male he knew as 'Diesell'.

Mrs Davies said: "He had blood on his hands and was shouting at the police officer.

"He shouted that the police officer would need to get more officers to deal with him and told the police officer to let the boys know Diesell was back."

He told the officer he wanted to be 'put away for a couple of years' and told the officer 'I done the police car'.

Paintin was holding a bottle of Jack Daniels whisky. The officer said Paintin had consumed around a third of the bottle and later said he had had an argument with his partner 'over his drunkenness'.

He told police: "I'm a p****. I damaged the police car."

Paintin told them he had drunk six pints of beer and some whisky.

Paintin, who represented himself, said: "I was just drunk. I was absolutely stupid. It was out of character and I made a really stupid mistake and this won't happen again. I'm sorry. I just punched the window through. I can't remember kicking the door. They said I did so I just admitted to it."

Paintin said of the incident on September 10: "I said 'what are you laughing at?' It escalated from there and I was arrested."

The district judge gave Paintin a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered him to pay £720 for the damage to the police car although he said he was 'sceptical' that the defendant had really caused this level of damage to the car.No order was made for costs but Paintin must pay a victim surcharge of £20. He agreed to clear the debt at a rate of £50 per week.
