MENSWEARS and formal hire firm Greenwoods – which had a branch in Worcester - has gone into administration.

The Bradford-based company has 63 stores and two concessions across the UK.

Its store on The Shambles, in Worcester, recently closed.

No redundancies have been announced so far, but the company employs 318 members of staff – with 292 working in stores, 15 at their head office and 11 in the warehouse.

Administrators Deloitte are assessing options – including the potential sale of the business – while the company continues to trade.

The company has an annual turnover of £20 million. The stores sell formal and casual menswear, including shoes and accessories.

It also offered a formal suit hire service – but the third party who provided the wedding hire service to Greenwoods has now terminated its supply agreement. The supplier has been contacting customers regarding completion of any unfulfilled Greenwoods orders direct to customers.

Any customer that paid a deposit to Greenwoods for an unfulfilled order on a credit card are advised to contact their provider. Any loss customers have suffered as a consequence of Greenwoods’ failure to supply, may be claimed as unsecured claim in the administration of Greenwoods using a proof of debt form.

Adrian Berry, from Deloitte, said: "We are currently assessing the options available to the company, including a potential sale of the business, and are continuing to trade it in the meantime.

"No redundancies are being announced at this stage and we are grateful to the employees for their support at this difficult time.

"This a challenging time for the UK retail sector, which has affected this company."
