INSPIRATIONAL breast cancer patients helped to raise more than £3,000 as they walked the walk in a charity fashion show, raising money for the Alexandra Hospital.

A group of 24 male and female models who have undergone or are undergoing breast cancer treatment took part in the event at Barnt Green Cricket Club on September 24.

The annual event, which this year raised money for an MRI scanner for breast cancer patients at the Alexandra, has been hailed as “the most successful ever” after smashing an initial £2,000 target.

Michelle Doidge of organisers Bosom Friends, a breast cancer support group for people in Bromsgrove, Redditch and Kidderminster, said: “We raised well in excess of £3,000 for the scanner which is absolutely amazing.

“It was one of the most successful, if not the most successful event, we have ever held.

“It was an amazing atmosphere and everyone had a fantastic evening, both the models and the people who came to see us.

“The money that we raised will help purchase specific equipment for an MRI scanner to improve breast cancer diagnosis.”

The equipment costs £16,000, with Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust pledging to match fund the first £8,000 raised.
