A MAN has fallen over the railings at the riverside in Worcester.

Ambulance staff said the man, in his 50s, had fallen onto the concrete below near Cafe Severn on Grand Stand Road and they were treating him for head injuries.

Chris Wyse, who was inthe cafe at the time but did not see the incident, said: "Somebody came in and told me that the man was leaning against the railing for a photograph and then suddenly he leant back and just fell over."

He was conscious after the fall, which was estimated at around 16 feet.

The incident happened at around 3.07pm.

An air ambulance was scrambled and landed at Worcester Racecourse.

Crew attended the scene but the air ambulance was not used.

An ambulance later took the man to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
