McDONALD'S staff were "lovin it" when they joined forces with a sports club to clear up their patch.

McDonald’s franchisee, Trevor Smith and crew from the restaurants in Blackpole Road and Hylton Road in Worcester recently teamed up with volunteers from sports clubs across the city for a tidy up.

Across two events, 110 volunteers joined together to collect more than 40 bags of litter from around St John's, Wall Meadow, Great Meadow and Home Meadow.

Mr Smith was joined by basketball clubs Worcester Bears and Worcester Wolves, Worcester Hockey Club, Worcester United Ladies Football Club, Worcester Netball Club, and American Football team, Worcester Black Knights to spruce up the local area.

Mr Smith, who owns and operates both the McDonald’s restaurants on Blackpole Road and Hylton Road in Worcester, said: “I was really proud to see everyone come together and help the community of Worcester.

"It’s a key priority of ours to ensure that the spaces around our restaurants remain an enjoyable place to live, work and visit. As a business, we understand the important role that we play in making the area a better place. We would like to thank everyone for taking part across our two events.”

Mandy Tompkins,Worcester Bears secretary, said: “It was fantastic to work with the local McDonald’s staff.

"We all had a great time litter picking and we enjoyed doing our bit to help keep the local area clean and tidy. I would like to thank McDonald’s for all their help - I can’t wait to team up with them again in the future.”

As well as getting involved in community projects, McDonald’s restaurants patrol the local vicinity of their restaurants at least three times a day to collect all litter that has been discarded, regardless of its origin.
