FAMILIES at Perry Wood Primary & Nursery School enjoyed a slice of poetry a cup of coffee.
The school had combined its Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser with a poetry recital to celebrate National Poetry Day 2017.
Pupils appeared on stage in front of their families to perform poems linked to work they have been studying in English lessons.
Parents and carers were then invited to share coffee and cakes in the dining hall to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Headteacher Suzanne Beston said: "At Perry Wood, we encourage our pupils to support and celebrate many charitable and other national events.
"We also pride ourselves on creating strong links between home and school, taking every opportunity to share our children’s hard work in school with their families.
"We decided that this coffee morning would be the perfect opportunity to combine both endeavours."
