MARY Stevens Hospice is today joining forces with 200 fellow causes across the UK to celebrate ‘Hospice Care Week’.

This year’s event – which celebrates the diverse range of people involved in providing and supporting hospice care – will run until Sunday (October 15) under the theme ‘we are hospice care’.

The awareness-raising week celebrates the contribution of everyone involved in the hospice, from nurses to volunteers, chefs to chaplains and corporate partners to carers.

The Stourbridge-based hospice will be highlighting stories about their staff, volunteers, donors and supporters with members of the public and encouraging members of the public to share these using the hashtag #WeAreHospiceCare.

Dan Malin, digital media and PR specialist at Mart Stevens Hospice, said: “This awareness week is so important both on a national and local level, in order to help more and more people learn about the work of hospices and what to expect if you or a loved one should ever rely on our care.

“Our team are there for our community in their hour of greatest need, and it is thanks to our community that that remains the case.

“We can never shout too loudly about the work of this charity and the tireless efforts of our staff, our volunteers and our supporters, and we’re grateful for Hospice Care Week in giving us a national platform on which to tell the world how proud we are of the work we do, and the people who do it.”
