A POTENTIAL lifesaving defibrillator has been installed at wedding venue near Pershore.

A community defibrillator has been installed at Deer Park Hall in Eckington, after money was raised at wedding fayres held at the venue.

West Midlands Ambulance Service staff are now working with Deer Park to advise and train members of the onsite business park, adjoining farmers and wedding venue staff, to know what to do in the case of an emergency.

Research suggests that the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest decreases by about 10 per cent for every minute's delay between when a person collapses with a cardiac arrest and when they receive an electric shock from a defibrillator.

If a defibrillator gets to someone within eight minutes it improves their chances of survival by a massive seventy five percent.

Caron Steele, owner at Deer Park Hall and Business Centre, said: "I’m really proud that we have installed this life saving equipment, supporting the onsite businesses and rural community.”

“It’s good to know that in our rural location, we can make a difference if it is needed in an emergency.”

Deer Park Hall has a long tradition of charity fundraisers with past contributions going to Save the Children, MyAware, St Richards Hospital and local charity Pershore Foodbank.
