A SECTION of Worcester road has been closed while engineering work is carried out.

Battenhall Road was closed today (Tuesday, October 10) following a burst pipe, near the junction with Athelstan Road.

Repair works on the main are now complete and the road is expected to reopen by Thursday, October 12.

Aidan Kelly, of Tidy Gardens & Fencing, said he would have normally use the road but had to go around the block to reach a property he was working at.

He added: "I will have to turn around again and go out the other way when I leave."

One resident living on the street said she was unaware of the closure.

A Severn Trent Water spokesman said: "We’ve fixed a burst pipe in Battenhall Road to make sure that none of our customers have any issues with their water supply.

"During the repairs we had to close a section of road, and that will remain closed until our teams get the road back to its normal state.

"There’s a clear diversion route in place but we’re really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

They added: "We have a permit to work in the road until Thursday, but we will always aim to complete work as soon as we can and reopen the road earlier where possible."
