A CYCLIST was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash in Warndon.
The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious leg and head injuries that police describe as "thought to be life-threatening at this time".
The crash involved the cyclist and a red Vauxhall Corsa, both travelling towards Blackpole on Cotswold Way at about 12.15pm.
An ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance attended, and the cyclist, a man in his 50s, was flown to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived they found a cyclist who had reportedly been in collision with a car.
“The man sustained serious injuries and, due to his condition, the staff worked as a team to administer rapid trauma care at the roadside before he was airlifted to hospital for further emergency treatment.”
The driver of the car is reported to have been unhurt.
West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information or anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 265s of 11 October.
Cotswold Way is closed in both directions following the crash, and police say the road is likely to remain closed for several hours.
The road closure is between the junctions with Ebrington Way and Woodgreen Drive, near the Worcester Bosch premises.
