WORK to repair the plinth of an iconic Worcester monument has been completed.
The famous statue of renowned composer Edward Elgar at the top of Worcester High Street was installed on to a new plinth as part of the Cathedral Square development.
But just weeks after being unveiled the Worcester News reported in August that damage was discovered on the plinth twice in less than a week.
It was believed to have been damaged when a vehicle drove into the plinth while trying to deliver goods, while there was speculation a section also broke off the plinth, due to skateboarders.
Last week work to repair the plinth was continuing, but this week this had now finished with barriers around the statue removed.
The statue was first unveiled in 1981 by the Prince of Wales.
Over the years, jokers have adorned Elgar with swimming goggles, a cap and a traffic cone, among other items.
