PLANS for developing the QinetiQ site off St Andrews Road will be going before the public next week.

The site is allocated for residential and employment development in the South Worcestershire Development Plan.

London-based development consultant Square Bay is producing a masterplan for the site and is staging a public show on Thursday, October 19.

The exhibition will take place at Priory Lodge Hall, Avenue Road, Malvern between 3pm and 7pm. Members of the development team will be present to discuss the plans with residents and to seek their feedback before a planning application is submitted.

Will Page, director at Square Bay, said “We are very pleased to be working with QinetiQ and Persimmon Homes to regenerate this brownfield site in line with local planning policy. We look forward to meeting with local residents to discuss our proposals for the site and receiving their input.”

The site is currently occupied by empty office and industrial buildings, previously part of QinetiQ and its government predecessors such as the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment.

The scheme involves knocking down these buildings and creating about 230,000 square feet of office, research and development space, up to 330 new homes and extra-care retirement living.

Mr Page said: “We have already held positive discussions with planning officers at Malvern Hills District Council. We will continue to work with the council, and the views of the local community are important to us as we prepare a planning application for the regeneration of this previously developed site.”

Information from the exhibition will be available online at malvernpark.com once the event has taken place.
