SIR – I discovered only today and from a fellow passenger that from Monday our 10-minute service from Monarch Drive is to be slashed to a 30- minute service.
There seems to be no information to this effect on the bus or at the terminus bus shelter but I did find confirmation of this online once I was alerted.
I understand that the university service and the service to Henwick Park are to be separated.
The first bus that can be used with a bus pass will not get us into Worcester until 10am. The last bus from Worcester will leave at 6.45pm.
In terms of frequency and hours of service this reduction of service will greatly affect both residents of Henwick Park and of the villages beyond who regularly use the 31 bus as an informal ‘park and ride’ service.
While other towns are actively improving bus services to reduce congestion on the roads and manage town centre parking, Worcester seems to have abandoned any effort to provide public transport to meet the needs of all residents apart from subsidised university students.
The bus station is a virtual ghost town after 6pm as hardly any services are available in the evening.
So disappointing!
Ann Finn,
Hallow
