OUR October guest speaker was Richard Kendrick who topic of ‘behind the scenes with film and outside catering’. Richard went from buying a ‘transport café’ on a whim to running a outside catering firm with mobile kitchens, dinning rooms, make rooms and wardrobe facilities. The company grew through a chance discussion and a lot of hard work by himself, his wife, a loyal team and some very expensive vehicles and equipment, to being capable of feeding hundreds of people in varied locations and unpredictable weather conditions – from tv and film crews and stars, sporting events, large corporate teams, weddings and intimate dinners for the discerning - anywhere and anytime. Needless to say it didn’t always go the way Richard might have hoped, but he obviously relished it and the stories and anecdotes he has to tell now kept us all amused.

The meeting included a raffle and the opportunity refreshments and chat between our members and guests. Our AGM will take place within the November meeting (7.45pm on November 1 in the village hall) when there will also be a talk on gypsy folk song and dance. The group have several outings and social events planned in the up and coming months including a trip to the Gloucester Quays Victorian Market in November, a Christmas meal in December and a pottery workshop in February. Visitors and new members are very welcome to join us; for further information contact Barbara (870791) or Ali (870179).
