FANS of American cars gathered to celebrate all things great about US automobiles this weekend.

Dozens of motorists descended on Chateau Impney in Droitwich Spa on Saturday afternoon for the American Car Festival organised by Bromsgrove-based Nemesis UK, which provides parts for high performance vehicles.

Organiser Dawn Tomlinson, 28, head of marketing for Nemesis UK, said: “It is a first-time event for us. About 90 cars came. We had about 50 Mustangs turn up, Lamborghinis, Jaguars, Ferraris and some classic cars.

“We promoted the event to current customers and clubs we know. We have had competitions running throughout the day.”

She added that the Mustang has become increasingly popular recently due to the release of the revolutionary 2015 model.

Guy Tomlinson, aged 30, who set up Nemesis UK in 2007, said: “It’s our 10th anniversary and we thought we’d put on an event for our customers.

“With owners, they are all enthusiasts. They like to see each other’s cars and talk about them. They all like to meet up and have a chit-chat and show off. We also did a run up the hill. Hopefully we’ll hold another event like this again.”

David Shepherd, 42, an engineer from Devizes, Wiltshire, was displaying his 2015 Ford Mustang S550 GT at the event.

He said: “When I bought my car I didn’t realise there was all this social side to it, but once I found the Facebook groups and forums I got involved.”
