A GOOD turnout of Malvern Anglers were pleased to find mild weather for their Roy Bouston Trophy match on the River Severn at Holdfast.
In such weather conditions, prospects of good catches were high for the last match on the river this year where several big catches of bream had been weighed in from earlier matches in the season.
But a run of cold, clear water caused the river to rise significantly during the contest and this seemed to put off the fish in most pegs as many anglers struggled to get a bite.
At the far downstream end of the water, conditions were more favourable for Pete Roberts who caught five bream on worms, including a couple of about 6lb to finish with a winning weight of 16lb 4oz 0dr.
In the middle section, 85-year-old Dick Oakley was pleased to land a bream of about 4lb and a couple of smaller ones to finish second with a weight of 6-1.
Lee Harman managed to catch a mixed bag of perch of smaller fish with some good-sized perch to weigh in 5-8 for third place.
Ian Goddard caught 3-15, Chris Loveridge 2-14, Nigel Bayliss 2-10, Clive Harman 2-4 and John Wagstaff 0-10.
