DISRUPTION to bus journeys in the city continued as more passengers express their anger.

As we reported on Tuesday (October 17), the introduction of new services and timetable alterations by First Worcestershire left some elderly residents waiting hours for buses they were unable to sit down on.

The failure to alter stop signs at Crowngate bus station also wreaked havoc.

Commuters and students also got in touch to share their experience of the new bus service and timetable.

On our website, 'Nannie2' said: "I agree entirely that the signage was completely useless.

"Whereas the No 30 stand was at the Dolday end of the bus station it is now at the very top first in from Angel Place.

"On the Apex outside of the shelters the old destinations are shown and the pathetic paper notices have been pinned inside the shelters and hence aren't visible to people looking for the correct departure point."

Commenting on our Facebook page, Stephanie Jones said: "I don’t usually catch the bus but my son wanted to get the bus to town yesterday.

"In my opinion if such a massive overhaul of the service was going to be changed then a bit more organisation would of been better.

"My son and I spent a lot of time waiting for bus at the wrong terminal.

"Poor organisation and the bus drivers haven’t got a clue either as it’s new to them also so they are unhelpful."

Tarn Heeks, on Facebook, said: "There is no bus through Drakes Broughton village to Worcester at 8am now, [I] have to catch one on the main road instead which is full.

"I can understand changing underused services but taking out buses at peak times when people are trying to get to work and college seems ridiculous."

Teresa Rickards added on our Facebook page: "Utter chaos 2 day’s running. Why they had to split the 31 I’ll never know. Worked alright before."

A University of Worcester spokesman said: "Most major bus companies offer a discount rate for students and we are grateful to First Bus for continuing to make this available for students at the University of Worcester.

"Ticket pricing and route planning are decisions taken by First on a commercial basis.

"We are committed to reducing the use of cars by staff and students at the University and welcome any incentives to encourage people to use public transport.

"We also run cycling schemes and encourage staff and students to walk wherever possible.”
