STOURBRIDGE will be looking Christmassy from  next month when the town's festive lights are officially switched on.

A day of seasonal fun to get families into the Christmas spirit is planned for the town centre on Saturday November 25.

From 11am to 5pm there will be funfair rides in Market Street and live entertainment on two stages in Crown Square and Fountain Square, where Chicago’s will be laying on a line-up of local bands on their outdoor stage.

Snow Princesses will be visiting the town to greet young shoppers who can also meet Father Christmas in his grotto in the Ryemarket from 11am to 4pm.

Mayor of Dudley, councillor Dave Tyler, who will be officially switching on the town's festive lights in Crown Square at 5pm, said: “As Mayor I have the hard task this year of judging the best dressed shop competition but it’s great to see the town getting into the spirit of Christmas and supporting the event.

“It promises to be a great day of festive fun and I hope lots of people will turn out and get into the seasonal spirit.”
