COUNCILLOR Ken Pollock (Worcester News, Thursday October 19) has wisely noted many individuals and business are against the return of the proposed ‘Velo’ cycle event to our Worcestershire roads in 2018.

I operate a transport related business which just by its definition depends on the unhindered use of our road network!

I am a realist and not idealist and accept at times that this for many reasons is not possible and I plan accordingly!

The 2017 ‘Velo’ event did have an impact on me personally and I had to change my business planned route at a cost to me.

As I observed the event through gritted teeth, I have to concede it really was a spectacle whereupon professional, amateur and newbie cyclists of all ages were enjoying the cycling on open, safe and restricted roads whilst apparently raising funds for their chosen charity.

Spectators and families were also on mass enjoying the outside event and I noted a little girl holding a sign saying ‘keep going daddy’!

Cllr Pollock also recognises some people will gain whilst other people and business may lose and he says this will be well debated, taking on board the many views and experiences from the 2017 event.

Good luck to him on that!

I am now going to select the winning lottery numbers for the weekend, which is much easier!
