A DRUNK father-of-two assaulted a hotel worker because he was told there was no room service.

Vic Horne, aged 25, became "very angry" when he phoned the reception desk at the four-star Stanbrook Abbey Hotel in Callow End.

David Smith, explained that room service was not provided at the hotel.

Worcester Magistrates Court was told that Horne was furious that there was no room service after he had "paid £150 for a room" to stay there on Sunday, October 8.

Colin Phillips, prosecuting, said: "That made the defendant very angry."

Mr Phillips told the court that Horne said: "I've paid £150 for a f**king room and you don't do room service?"

The defendant then left his room and approached Mr Smith and asked if it was him he had spoken to on the phone and Mr Smith told him it was.

Horne then assaulted Mr Smith, the court heard.

Providing mitigation for himself in court, Horne admitted he had a drinking problem.

He told the magistrates: "I lost my mum and my partner fell pregnant and we thought she could never have kids.

"This is my realisation I have a problem.

"What I did was disgusting – that guy had a job to do and I went and attacked him. It was disgusting.

"I am sorry I have done what I have done."

Horne, of Woodside Court, Guillemont Fields, Farnborough, Hampshire, pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 26.

Magistrates fined Horne £800, ordered him to pay £100 compensation, an £80 victim surcharge and court costs of £135.

Stanbrook Abbey Hotel, in Jennet Tree Lane, is set in a 26-acre private estate between Worcester and Malvern, and has 55 rooms.
