TWO Worcester-based entrepreneurs have launched a new initiative to celebrate talented men and women.

The Wonderful Worcestershire Awards, spear-headed by Swarm Events Directors, Sarah Mayo-Evans and Julia Williams, follow the highly successful Wonderful Worcestershire Women Awards, which took place in 2016.

Sarah was the founder of Peach Recruitment in 2002 while Julia Williams is one of the most high-profile business women in Worcestershire and is well-known for her dedication to her work and love of local charities. The first lady of Strictly Worcestershire, she is a director of Worcestershire Ambassadors and co-founder of Wonderful Worcestershire Women.

Sarah said: "The Wonderful Worcestershire Women Awards won praise from women all over the county.

"This time we have decided the awards should celebrate both talented men and women.

"The awards feature 10 categories which encompass business, learning, volunteering and bravery."

The awards are entrepreneur of the year, business owner of the year, employed director, partner or very senior manager of the year, employee of the year, young business person of the year, apprentice of the year, student of the year and volunteer of the year.

There will also be an award for person who has a significant achievement under their belt and a special bravery award.

Nominations, which close on November 30, can be made at wonderfulworcestershireawards.co.uk.

The nominees launch takes place on January 17, from 11.30am, at the Guildhall.

Julia added: "It’s been a real privilege to develop the Wonderful Worcestershire Awards and once again invite the people of this county to share their talents and achievements. We would encourage businesses, clubs, charities, families and friends to nominate worthy individuals."
