RELOCATION of workers at a Worcester warehouse to a site 20 miles away is set to be complete by next month.

In September, this paper reported that the distribution centre, dealing in medical supplies, based in Wainwright Road, Wall Meadow, was planning to to move its 114-strong workforce to Redditch.

A Unite union spokesman, who is representing 70 staff members, said most of the workers would struggle to keep their job if they have to relocate.

Now the union said it believes the transfer will be complete by Friday, December 8.

A Unite spokesperson said: "We understand the transfer will be completed by December 8. We still have a further meeting scheduled with management to, hopefully, agree a way forward for those that cannot transfer for various reasons."

The union said it was unable to confirm how many members would be unable to transfer as it is confidential while talks continue.

Previously, it was anticipated that the last department would move by the middle of November.

It is believed at least one department has already moved to Pipers Road, Redditch, where the multinational company owns another centre.

The plans have come about as the lease at the Worcester site has come to an end.

The Worcester News approached Ceva Logistics for comment and is awaiting a response.
