PUPILS from Perry Wood Primary School have performed in the Shakespeare Schools Festival.
It was the school’s first experience of taking part in the world’s largest youth drama festival and, for most of the children, their first time on stage.
Twelve excited members of Year 5 set off to the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury to perform in the show on Wednesday, November 15.
The day was a whirlwind of technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and watching other schools perform.
Arts Coordinator and class teacher, Helen Manners, said: “Despite their initial nerves, the children thoroughly enjoyed their stage experience and their hard work in rehearsals produced fantastic final performances.
"My colleagues and I were proud to hear the evening compere comment on how well they could be heard throughout the theatre and how joyful their performance was.
"He compared them to little bottles of pop – full of bubbles and just waiting to explode across the stage!
"As a member of the Griffin Schools Trust, promotion of the arts has a high profile in our school and we encourage all children to explore their creative talents in all aspects of the arts.
"We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the festival and can’t wait to be involved again next year.”
