MEMBERS of St John Ambulance have worked tirelessly to rescue and help Worcestershire's flood victims.
Using their 4x4 ambulances to get through the waters over the weekend the charity answered a number of 999 calls.
These included picking up an unconscious casualty from 4ft of flood near Evesham and taking them to hospital in Redditch and managing to locate a diabetic who had been lost for over six hours without his medication and get him home safely.
A crew in Evesham had to take a detour of over fifty miles in order to transport a paramedic from Hampton, near Evesham, to the local ambulance station.
As flood waters across the county rose St John members were asked to assist the emergency services and the army with the evacuation of nursing homes.
Members also helped at the emergency rest centres in Evesham and Upton-upon-Severn. In Upton they used one of their four-wheeled drive vehicles to ferry a doctor around.
The St John Ambulance crews were mobilised from Droitwich, Evesham, Malvern, Pershore and Worcester, with additional support from Shropshire.
