POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a crash, which left a driver in a "critical" condition. 

A silver Toyota left the carriageway of the B4220 road, near Bringsty, Bromyard, and collided with a tree and a barrier, just after 1.20pm on Sunday, December 3. 

The driver, a 26-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his neck and was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. 

His condition is described as "critical but stable".

West Midlands Ambulance Service send an ambulance, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham with two paramedics on board and a BASICS doctor from Mercia Accident Rescue Service (MARS) to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find the driver of the car, a man, in a critical condition following the collision. The team of ambulance staff and doctor worked quickly to administer immediate advanced trauma care to help stabilise his deteriorating condition.

"Once the man had been stabilised, the team transferred him to the awaiting air ambulance before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. The doctor travelled in the helicopter to continue treatment en route."

The car was travelling in the direction of Bromyard. 

Enquiries are currently ongoing but police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident or people who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.
