YOUNGSTERS from a primary school experienced "the true spirit of Christmas" by donating essential items to a Worcester day centre supporting homeless and vulnerable people in need.

Brockhampton Primary school in Bringsty collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, bodywork, biscuits, chocolate and crisps to give to Maggs Day Centre in Deansway.

In total, the pupils handed over four large bags of donations, which included more than 50 toothbrushes.

Chairman of the parents and teachers association Gemma Mitchell said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the support from parents and the donations received. The children really seemed to understand the reason behind the request for such items and were very proud to hand them all over. They have shown the true spirit of Christmas."

Maggs provides support for people in need, both emotionally and physically. This includes those who feel socially isolated, those who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless in Worcester and the surrounding area.
