WITH temperatures starting to rise, the county is expecting "intense rainfall" overnight, according to the council's highways department.

However, the Met Office issued another yellow warning for ice as temperatures remain low.

Temperatures are now expected to gradually rise overnight and there will be a minimum temperature of -4°C, across the West Midlands.

Worcestershire County Council highways department said it was expecting "fairly intense rainfall" in Worcestershire from around 7pm.

It added that gritters will be out later this evening after the rain clears.

Dave Throup, Environment Agency manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: "We know the temperature is going to rise but we don't think it will rise quickly enough to cause flooding - it will be a gradual process over the next couple of days at least.

"We are keeping an eye on the snow that could, as it begins to thaw, cause flood problems.

"We're not expecting the temperature to rise that quickly so we're not expecting problems from snow melt.

"So we will continue to have icy pavements in the coming days."

According to the Met Office, ice conditions are expected to continue with some rain spreading east overnight and it will become drier during the early hours with clearing skies allowing temperatures to fall away, giving a widespread frost.
