3.19pm:

West Mercia Police have said the man who died in this morning's crash was in his 40s, and said his next of kin have been notified.

Witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 109S.

2.48pm: West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed a man died following a horror crash this morning. 

The cyclist and a van crashed on the junction of the A449 and Claines Lane in Worcester at 7.05am.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance Crew from Cosford in a rapid response car to the scene attended, but sadly could not save the man. 

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered a man who was in cardiac arrest having suffered serious injuries in the incident.

“CPR and advanced life support was administered by ambulance staff, however, sadly it became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

12.57pm: The road has reopened.



11.30am: A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed they have attended the incident this morning. 

The spokesman said the initial caller reported a crash between a van and a cyclist, although this hasn't be confirmed.

9.52 UPDATE: We are trying to find out more about this one. Road is likely to stay closed for much of the morning. Traffic heading away from the Claines Roundabout towards the M5 is affected and the road is likely to stay closed for much of the morning.

THE A449 between Claines roundabout and the M5 Junction 6 is closed due to an accident.

Emergency services are at the scene dealing with a crash.
