UPDATE: The road has now been fully re-opened almost 12 hours after the original crash.

Tailbacks continue to junction 7.

The overturned lorry has now been removed from the road.

Delays continued as repairs were made to the barriers, with only one lane open for the last few hours.

ORIGINAL STORY: THE M5 is closed between junctions 5 and 6 northbound near Droitwich Spa to allow for the removal of an overturned lorry.

Road users are being advised to follow the 'Solid Circle' diversion symbol and exit the M5 at junction 6, taking the third exit off the roundabout onto the A4538 northbound.

Continue along the A4538 and turn right onto the A38 northbound and continue along the A38 to rejoin the M5 at junction 5.

There are long delays on the approach to junction 6.

The carriageway was fully closed at around 7.10pm to assist in the recovery of the vehicle with a crane required to help right the lorry.

Emergency services have been on the scene for some time, with lanes one, two and three – of four – initially closed, with motorists being warned of delays of up to 90 minutes.

Cameras show that the lorry overturned right across the three lanes, facing towards the barrier just off lane one.
