Jabba Riaz, Worcester City Councillor has expressed his gratitude for the support for his fundraising efforts for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Mr Riaz’s daughter Zoya was treated in Birmingham Children’s Hospital for congenital nephrotic syndrome, which affects the kidneys, and can be fatal if left without a diagnosis.

After her treatment, Mr Riaz set out to raise money for the children’s hospital that looked after his daughter.

He held a fun day, along with other families in Worcester whose children have been helped by the hospital, at Horizon Community Centre in Midland Road, just before Christmas, which raised £1500.

He said: “We were overwhelmed with the response we received and would like to thank all those that participated, donated, volunteered and promoted the cause.”

Along with the fun day, Mr Riaz has raised over £3200 so far including online donations, a collection of £610 at Worcester Mosque on Tallow Hill and a pledge of £500 from his employers Airproducts PLC.

He said: “It shows the tremendous amount of love, good will and generosity that the residents of the city and those further afield have for the great work that Birmingham Children’s Hospital do.”
