CARE homes across Worcestershire have been collecting footwear throughout the winter months to support the homeless.

Sanctuary Care’s homes, including Regent Residential Care Home in St John’s, have been supporting the charity Forgotten Feet.

The charity provides free chiropody and podiatry services for the homeless and socially isolated across Worcester, as well as other places across the country.

Deborah Monk, podiatrist and Forgotten Feet founder, said: “The sock collection from Regent has been fabulous, we have so far had a large bag of both new and used socks and several pairs of boxed boots – ideal for the homeless during the wet and cold winter months.

“The charity is rapidly expanding and exceeding all expectations and we now have about 25 clinics running or opening across the UK.”

Helen Park, receptionist from Regent, who has led the sock collection added: “To be involved in such an innovative, exciting project has been amazing.

“Our residents, their families, staff and friends of Regent have risen to the challenge. I’m sure 2018 will bring more socks and more support for this worthwhile charity.”
