A NEW coffee morning group has got off to an excellent start after launching at the Lyppard Hub in Warndon Villages.

The community centre is home to more than 60 groups and the latest one, which has been named Communi-tea & cake, is designed especially for over 55s and launched last week.

And the first event proved a success as there was a good turn out for the first group.

Hannah Bush, project assistant, said: "We were delighted to welcome more than 20 people to our first Communi-tea & cake.

"The event was a fantastic start to the group with people from the local area meeting and chatting to each other.

"It was lovely to see new friendships begin to develop and we look forward to future weeks, and plenty more chatting and cuppas together.

"We are also excited about further developing our network of support for older people in the community.”

The group meets weekly during term times, between 11am and 12.30pm. All over 55s are welcome to join.
