WORCESTERSHIRE'S finest architecture will be celebrated at an event being held in the spring.

Worcester News readers supported the Worcestershire Architecture Awards in 2017, which were set up to recognise the great architecture in the county and promote the value that using an architect can bring to the local environment.

A jury consisting of architects and non-architects judged the submissions, and a People's Choice Award was organised by Newsquest Midlands, publishers of the Worcester News.

An exhibition to celebrate the best of the awards is being held at the Saw Yard Gallery, Bewdley Museum, between March 3 and April 29.

Among the award winners were Glazzard Architects for Redhill at Shelsley Beauchamp, Vivid Architects of Worcester for a proposed house at the Fold, Malvern and Howl Associates of Kidderminster for Stanbrook Abbey Hotel.

The People's Choice winner was Jacobs Architects of Worcester for St Andrew's First School in Evesham.

Emily Kippen, chairman of the society, said: "The exhibition showcases entries that were received and awards that were given, and celebrates the very diverse mix of architectural practices we have based in Worcestershire.

"All around us architects are helping to create new buildings and spaces that impact on the lives of both the people who use them and those who pass by."

The Worcestershire Architecture Awards 2018 will be launching in May, when people will be encouraged to submit their entries.
