MOTORISTS in Worcestershire insured by Admiral have been contacted by the firm following allegations that the company charges higher premiums for Asian drivers.
The Sun has claimed that, when searching for insurance quotes on price comparison websites, Admiral and its sister companies charged up to £1,000 more for a driver named Mohammed than one called John, despite all other policy details being identical.
But Admiral denied this in an email to customers, saying "claims we use customers' names to price our insurance based on race" are "100 per cent not the case and we do not, and have never, used this information to provide a price to our customers."
"We use a complex rating structure and rate on many different variables and data sources," the email added.
