A SECOND night of boxing has been scheduled for Worcester's Guildhall, after tickets for the initial event sold out in just hours.

As previously reported, boxing will return to the Guildhall for the first time since the Second World War on Saturday March 24, in a Peaky Blinders themed event organised by Worcester Charity Boxing Association (WCBA).

Tickets for the event, which has a 1920s-40s dress code and will raise funds for Birmingham Children's Hospital, sold out in just hours and so a second date has now been added – on Saturday March 31.

Tom Whitby, who set up WCBA with colleagues Adam Llewelyn and Adam Woodward, said: “We are overwhelmed with the amount of interest and support we have had. From the boxers to the local businesses and the Worcester public, everyone is really getting into the Peaky Fighters spirit. We are projected to raise thousands of pounds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital through these events. My nephew has relied on the hospital heavily since he was born."

Mr Llewellyn said that when they announced the event on Facebook, there was a massive buzz with 24 people contacting them in just 24 hours to see if they could take part.

"Our events are for anyone, both people wanting to give boxing a try and experienced boxers," he said.

There will also be live music, a best dressed competition, food and a bar.

Local businesses, such as Anja Potze Fine Jewellery, Barber Town and Worcestershire Hour are sponsoring the event and donating raffle prizes.

Tickets are £25 for standing, £30 for seated and £350 for a VIP table for a party of 10. Buy them at the WCBA Facebook page or eventbrite.co.uk/e/peaky-fighters-worcester-day-3-tickets-42346727201
