'DOZENS' of fridges and freezers have been dumped next to the River Severn.
Residents have expressed their shock at the flytipping in Ribbesford Wood, on the B4194, near Stourport, in Worcestershire.
One raised concerns that if the river floods the goods could be carried downstream to Worcester.
The Environment Agency said it has been investigating the issue and believes it was originally caused by a house clearance.
Jayne Parkes, of Areley Kings, Worcestershire, said she and her husband drive past the scene regularly.
She said: "It gets worse and worse. It's not just fridges and freezers. It's everything known to man down there.
"There's glass and children's odds and ends."
Mrs Parkes said the flytipping became a real issue after the land was sold around two years ago.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "We’ve been investigating a series of fly-tips in Ribbesford Wood.
"The dumped waste has potentially come from a house clearance. The waste pile has been compounded by further fly-tips.
"Dumping waste is illegal and causes blight on the community, and we’re urging anyone with information about this case."
The spokesman added that people can get in touch to report cases of flytipping by ringing the agency on 0800807060 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
