WORK to fill in potholes on a residential road has been criticised by a resident, who says it is already “breaking up” just months later.

Kenwood Avenue, Worcester, was resurfaced over a three-day period in June last year, but the resident, who did not wish to be named, said the council’s highways department needs to think again.

“It was top dressed on top of the new tarmac around August for some reason, as you don’t normally top dress on top of new tarmac,” said the man, who lives on a road off Kenwood Avenue.

“But when I ask councillors why it is already coming off and making a mess everywhere, I get its the weather and traffic wear.

"It was coming off before the bad weather and we don’t get much traffic on Kenwood Avenue.”

Cllr Alan Amos, cabinet member for highways, said: “We are aware of a road surface issue that has occurred in Kenwood Avenue, Worcester, which has been surface dressed.

"We will continue to inspect and monitor this situation regularly ahead of carrying out the necessary repair works when the season starts in April.”

At the time of the works in June, Linda Griffiths complained that herself and other residents had not been informed of the works.

“The road is pretty much closed off and impossible to use,” she said.
