SIR – I read with interest that Evesham may soon to be having a KFC.

I think this is wonderful news and it is so good that Wychavon District Council is letting Evesham move with the times and to keep adding new shopping facilities as the town grows in size. What a shame that the same councillors won’t let Pershore do the same.

Wychavon planners recently turned down planning for a new Aldi on the outskirts of Pershore. Shame on you all. Pershore has expanded several fold over since the 1970s and yet we have less shops now than we did then.

We have two doctors surgeries that are bursting to capacity as are the dentists. Can someone tell me why Wychavon District Council want to keep Pershore in the dark ages?

We have houses going up at a very rapid rate year after year but no new facilities to accommodate them.

Surely it stands to reason that you can’t just keep building houses and not build new shops for people to shop in.

Pershore always seem to being left behind when it comes to shopping.

You can say all you want but there are not enough different shops here to entice people to shop in Pershore.

As for all the PC brigade saying shops on the outskirts would take away business from the town centre what a load of old tosh that is.

If anything it would encourage people from the outside to come into our high street.

What really gets my goat is the councillors who are turning plans down for new retail don’t even live in Pershore and apart for attending meetings at the palace probably don’t ever shop here anyway.
