A MAN has been taken to hospital as firefighters continue to tackle a fire at an electrical substation in Upton Warren.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at 12.52pm this afternoon (Friday, February 9), and crews from Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster, Droitwich and Redditch fire stations were dispatched to the A38 Worcester Road.
Around 5,000 homes were down across the district, with Wychbold and Upton Warren most severly affected, and electricity supply to several properties was blocked for safety reasons.
Firefighters are now damping down the substation and a nearby building, after using breathing apparatus and compressed air foam to defeat the flames. The site has been partially isolated.

"We are working hard with Western Power and hope to restore electricity as soon as possible”
