WORCESTER Sixth Form College's BTEC Business students organised a number of events to raise money for charity.

Students had to come up with their own theme and decide on which charity they wanted to support.

They worked together in groups and produced promotional material, a budget and a risk assessment.

They also set up their own displays and persuaded their fellow students to donate money.

The students decided on various fundraising activities such as a chocolate fountain, cupcakes and milkshakes stall, a raffle and cake sale for Acorns Children's Hospice, two cake sales in aid of St Richard’s Hospice, and a Pick ‘n’ Mix stall for the Make A Wish Foundation.

They also did a Sponsored Mile event for Sport Relief, ‘Jumpin’ Jukeboxes’ DJ requests in aid of Maggs Day Centre and a strawberries and cake sale.

The events were a great success, raising a total of £307.38 for the students’ chosen charities.

A contribution was also made by the College, making a total donation of £519.04 to the various charities.

Kerry Morris, subject leader for vocational Business courses, said: “This always proves to be a very popular unit as it is very hands on and helps the students to develop really useful transferable skills for the future such as team working and time management.

"The students did so well to raise so much money for their chosen charities - well done to them all.”
