THE MAYOR of Worcester found his skydive yesterday, "very exciting".

"It's very good and very exciting, but there is a feeling of trepidation when your going up the plane before hand."

Yesterday, Councillor Steve Mackay, jumped out of a plane at 12,000 ft to raise money for three charities.

"We did it in Netheravon, where it was particularly cold, but you don't really notice that when your falling at around 120 mph. When your at the edge of the door waiting to be pushed out, your not really thinking about much really, and then your just rolling and then falling into space, and waiting for the parachute to kick in. I was looking at the cameraman who is up there with us to. There is quite a lot of free fall before the parachute opens. "

The Mayor was looked after by Paratroopers at Netheravon Army Parachute Association in Wiltshire, who trained him and talked him through the parachute jump.

The three charities the jump will support are Headway Worcestershire, local charity supporting people affected by brain injury, Victim Support, who help people affected by crime and traumatic events and Onside Advocacy, a local organisation which ensures that those having either physical or mental ill-health issues will be well represented, and are not discriminated against.

The total he has raised for the charities is not known but is over £500. Donations are still welcome on his donation page uk.virginmoneygiving.com
