The police have been called to Perdiswell Leisure Centre.
The leisure centre hopes to open as normal tomorrow.
A Facebook message by the leisure centre says the damage to the height restriction barrier was caused by travellers.
The post said: "Unfortunately we have taken the decision to close the centre this evening at 8-45pm.
"Travellers have broken our height restriction barrier and have entered the car park.
"Police are in attendance.
"We aim to be open as normal from 6am tomorrow; but please call before leaving for the centre.
"We will update as much as possible through Facebook & the website.
"Many thanks and sorry for any inconvenience caused."
