A WORCESTER firm is designing Falklands Islands’ hospital improvements.

One Creative Environments Ltd, based in Wildwood Drive, has been commissioned for phase one of the extension and modernisation plans for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Stanley - the Islands’ only hospital.

The project will be providing two new state-of-the art operating theatres, that will enable more complex procedures to take place on the island, as well as X-Ray and CT scanning facilities.

The development will also make more efficient use of space for new offices, workshop and stores.

It is the third contract that the growing firm has been awarded on the islands in recent months.

Well established in the healthcare sector, the team is also working alongside the Falklands Islands Government, designing the first ever purpose built Vulnerable Persons Extra Care Facility on the islands.

Matt Tebbatt, managing director of One Creative Environments Ltd, said: "We are delighted to win this latest contract with the Falklands Island Government.

"These improvements will make a real difference to people and it is a pleasure to be involved.

“We are already working on two other projects on the islands."

Colin Summers, director of public works for Falklands Island Government, added: “We look forward to working with One on the extension and modernisation programme for the hospital as we are already seeing positive results from their creative team on the design of our extra care facility for vulnerable people.
